This series of morning classes with Mary Smith from Edible Alaska is designed to encourage you to use your local Farmers Market as a place to stock up for the week. Well talk about the current state of Alaskas
statewide local agriculture movement and what you can do as a consumer to help it grow and thrive!

Each class will focus on different seasonal produce, as well as talking about ways to enjoy food products from other Alaskan vendors including meat, seafood, and ready-to-use products like jams, honey, and more, and well highlight a couple of local vendors at each class.

In addition to whats in each class line-up, Mary will also highlight finds from an early visit to that days market so you know youre
getting the freshest options available!

Well start early on Saturday so you can hit up the South Anchorage Farmers Market across the street (or your other favorite Saturday market) as soon as were done. Mary will also head to the market after class if anyone wants to walk around with her and talk food.

Well have the coffee ready!

The June 9 class will focus on using early produce offerings like radishes, spring greens and herbs along with other seasonal market options. Well talk about local eggs and ways to use them and work with a couple of seafood options.

Well talk about, demonstrate and eat:

  • Roasted Radishes with Brown Citrus Butter
  • Grilled Romaine with homemade ranch dressing
  • Oil poached halibut with Mint Radish Relish
  • Vinaigrette ratios/variations
