SMOKED SALMON CHOCOLATE SQUARE, MODERN DWELLERS CHOCOLATE
Modern Dwellers Chocolate lounge in Anchorage is continuously developing new flavor combinations, so it's no surprise that they would find a way to incorporate one of Alaska's best-loved foods: salmon. Slivers of smoked salmon are blended with 65% dark chocolate, giving a surprisingly salty yet deliciously rich flavor. The smokiness of the salmon comes across through hints of alder, but it never tastes fishy. Instead, the chocolate square is a salty-sweet treat, perfect for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up that satisfies the craving for a sweet indulgence with a little edge.

GLACIER WHISKEY STONE SET, ALASKAN HAND MADE
Prefer your whiskey on the rocks, but don't like how watered down it can get? Look no further than these Glacier Whiskey Stones. After a day or two in the freezer pop a few of the stones in a glass, pour over your favorite whiskey and voilà, you've got a cold drink that won't taste diluted, no matter how long it takes to enjoy. Alaskan Hand Made finds river stones in the Matanuska Glacier Valley and carves them into cubes. Even the bag that the six stones come in is handcrafted with burlap from a local coffee roaster, a drawstring from the crab fishing industry, and a button crafted from Alaskan birch trees.
Available online at alaskanhandmade.com and at Dos Manos, 1317 W Northern Lights Suite 3, Anchorage

SPICE MELANGE LOOSE TISANE, SIPPING STREAMS TEA COMPANY
Challenged by regulars to come up with a custom blend reminiscent of Constant Comment or Market Spice, Fairbanks-based Sipping Streams Tea Company owner Jenny Tse created a mix that brings together some traditional, if not unexpected, spices. Red peppercorns add a bit of soft heat, cardamom pods and orange bring in exotic flavors, and cinnamon provides a characteristic warmth. The base of her Spice Melange is black tea, making it a perfect choice if you’re looking for a cold weather boost. All of Jenny’s blends are hand mixed in-house, and she takes great care in sourcing quality base ingredients, teas, herbs, and spices.

Stop by her tea house to pick up some Spice Melange or ask Jenny or her well-trained staff to walk you through their collection of custom blends. Grab a tea to go or stay for a while—Sipping Streams is a perfect place to relax casually or indulge in a more formal tea service.
Available online at sippingstreams.com and at Sipping Streams Tea House, 374 Old Chena Pump Rd., Fairbank
