Sweet Cheeks Mobile Bakery
When Fairbanks residents Annie and Vance Enderle were visiting Valdez with their kids a few summers ago, the whole family fell in love with its beauty and potential for adventure. As they were trying to figure out how to spend more time there, Annie came up with the idea of a bakery: she couldn’t think of a better way for tourists and locals alike to wrap up a brisk morning of fishing than with a warm, fresh cinnamon roll. Since first opening its twin sliding windows for business in May of 2016, Sweet Cheeks has been parked at several locations around Fairbanks, including Trax Outdoor Center, the Tanana Valley State Fair, and in a West Fairbanks neighborhood. Look for them in Valdez this summer!
Sweet Cheeks’ home is a 1966 Airstream Caravel trailer purchased from a family friend in Soldotna. It was in original condition before Annie and Vance gutted it to turn it into their “mobile dream-come-true” by outfitting it with a bare bones, but completely modern, commercial kitchen
Everybody helps, but Annie says she and Vance consider weekends in the bakery “our time” together while the kids are off doing other things. They typically trade off tasks: the person who kneaded the first batch will roll and cut the second.
