What’s Fresh in Early July

cauliflower-1465732_1920.jpg

Beans, beets, cabbage — oh my! Early July is one of the best times of year to visit Alaska farmers markets. Seemingly overnight, new types of vegetables are ready for harvest and it’s almost hard to keep up with them all. If you’re visiting our great state, you’re in for a treat because our vegetables can be quite impressive in size. (Yes, a single head of lettuce can fill an entire reusable shopping bag.)

Local cauliflower is ripe for the picking, so if you’ve been wanting to try out the cauliflower rice trend pick up an Alaska-grown beauty and give it a go. From grilled cauliflower steaks to cauliflower ice cream, there are plenty of ways to use this ivory Brassica. Let us know what you’re cooking by sharing with us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
