NMS Brings Heart to the Table at Alaska’s Senior Dining and Tribal Healthcare Facilities
In the rhythm of daily life at Alaska’s senior living and healthcare facilities, something beautiful is happening—something beyond medications, routines, and medical charts. NANA Management Services (NMS) serves comfort not just as nourishment, but as a bridge to memory, dignity, culture, and home.
Food at the Alaska Pioneer Homes is not just a necessity, but a point of connection. Our Deliciously Indigenous offerings are more than meals, they’re stories served on a plate, honoring our Elders with delicious meals that feed the mind, body, and spirit.

For many Elders, food is deeply tied to culture, memory, and personal identity. When someone living with dementia tastes something familiar—a dish their mother made, or something shared during seasonal gatherings—it can unlock conversations, bring smiles, and restore a sense of self. Our mission is to create meals that are both nutritionally balanced and emotionally meaningful.
In Tribal healthcare facilities, offerings such as caribou, reindeer, and seal serve as spirit-lifters that connect patients back home to a time outside of the hospital. Many of the ingredients we use are sourced through Niqipiaq, our traditional foods donation program.
Our approach is not only culturally sensitive but also deeply personal, and we tailor menus to reflect the tastes and traditions of each region of Alaska. Whether it is herring eggs salad in Sitka, moose stroganoff in Palmer, spruce tip ice cream in Anchorage, smoked fish in Juneau and Ketchikan, or a tasty treat of hooligan in Fairbanks, we create meals that deepen connections and honor the places and people we serve.
NMS is committed to food service in healthcare that is much more than institutional dining, but hospitality with heart.
