
Chai for a Crowd
Make this spicy tea mix ahead of time to keep yourself and your friends warm all winter. Then brew up a big batch of chai for your next gathering.
Ingredients
- 2 1-inch pieces of dried or 3 pieces of freshly cut ginger root
- 9½ cups water
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup Spiced Tea Mix
Spiced Tea Mix
- 1 cup loose black tea leaves
- 3 pieces dried ginger
- 3 tablespoons green cardamom pods
- 3 tablespoons star anise
- ½ tablespoon whole cloves
- 6 whole cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon whole peppercorns
Instructions
- Bring water, tea mix, and ginger to a low simmer and don’t let it boil. Keep on low for 30 minutes, then remove from heat and steep for 10 more minutes. Stir in the sugar until it dissolves. Strain into teacups and serve with your choice of milk. Garnish with ground cinnamon. Spiced Tea Mix Makes about 2 cups of tea mix Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container.
