Furikake with Alaska Smoked Sea Salt

Furikake.jpg

Furikake with Alaska Smoked Sea Salt

This Japanese-inspired seasoning is less sweet than a traditional furikake, since we leave out the sugar. But the addition of a good smoked sea salt like Alaska Salt Co.'s adds a nice depth of flavor. Try it sprinkled on top of cooked rice, vegetables, fish — even popcorn!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons bonito flakes
  • 1 sheet nori, torn into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon smoked sea salt, preferable Alaska Salt Co.

Instructions

  • Grind nori and bonito flakes together in a mortar and pestle. Add salt and sesame seeds and toss to mix. Use as a seasoning for a variety of foods.
