Compound butter

Need a tasty holiday gift (and have a bunch of emply Mason jars to use up)? We're loving these easy compound butters. They taste great on bread, but also make a ready-to-use dip for crab or shrimp (just melt in the microwave or on the stove top) or an easy steak topper.

Start with 1 cup of good quality butter - we used salted Kerrygold. Let the butter soften slightly and then work in some of these flavorings by hand. Pack into jars and you’re ready. We have to warn you—these blends are so delicious they might not make it out of the house:

Add to 1 cup of butter:

1 tablespoon chopped dried cranberries + 2 tablespoons chopped toasted pecans + 1 teaspoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice + 1 teaspoon lemon zest + 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill

2 teaspoons minced canned chipotle chiles and adobo sauce + 1 tablespoon honey

Pack into jars and keep refrigerated until ready to use.
