Urban Agricul-Tour Community Ride
Hosted by Bike Anchorage
The route will showcase surprising examples of backyard agriculture in the urban town of Anchorage. While all of these gardens are past their youthful beauty, they are in their productive prime.
Highlights are a small-production farm, a self-pay market stand, and thornless raspberries, fruit trees, grapes, asparagus, and corn. Visit four gardens in the Airport Heights, Turnagain, South Addition, and Fairview neighborhoods.
Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Airport Heights Fire Island Bakery. Some nibbles will be provided along with a tour of the on-site Urban Farm LLC. The ride begins at 6 p.m., about 11 miles total distance, taking new-to-some shortcut routes.
