Caroline Zhang

I am an Alaska-based photographer with a fascination for how we cook, eat, and feed others. Formerly of Boston and Harvard College where I studied Irish history and literature, I first began taking food pictures as a high school news reporter and later as a blogger at Pass the Cocoa. I work at the University of Alaska during the day, photograph on the weekends, and bake dessert anytime in between. I have collaborated with local businesses and magazines as well as online education platforms and blogs.

I found my way to cooking long before I picked up a camera. My fascination for food as culture, heritage, communication, and justice guides my photography. Food is so much more than just nourishment or Yelp reviews, and food photography does more than pretty things up to look delicious–it tells a story, it provides insight into the people we care about and how we interact with them.
