Travis Kukull is the Chef/Owner of Malo Nista Catering in Haines, Alaska. “Malo Nista” translated from Croation means “little nothing,” a reference to his ancestors’ homestead in Eastern Washington. Kukull is from the Seattle area where he was the chef owner of Gastropod Restaurant, Epic Ales Brewery, Mollusk Restaurant and Mollusk Brewing. He is a 2015 Rising Star Chef Award recipient, 2014 Voracious Food award winner for innovation in food and beverage, and winner of Seattle Magazine’s Best New restaurant 2013. He has lived in Haines, Alaska with his wife Rachel for the last five years where he draws inspiration from his subsistence life.
