Easy Chaga Tea

As Yéilk’ Vivian Mork says, chaga isn’t easy. But if you’ve bought some chaga pieces or powder, you’re more than halfway to a nutritious, warming drink. Yéilk’ grinds small pieces of chaga in a dedicated coffee grinder. She says you can re-use steeped powder two to three times. To make the tea:

Ingredients

  • Put 1 tablespoon of chaga powder in a kettle or small saucepan.
  • Fill the pan or kettle with 4 cups of water.
  • Bring the water to a rolling boil, and immediately turn down to a simmer.
  • Simmer for about an hour.

Preparation

To make chaga coffee like Yéilk’ makes each morning, pour the tea over grounds in a pour-over filter like a Melitta or Chemex, and save the steeped chaga powder to use again.
